Our Story
“We are proud to feature work created by the most talented craftspeople around. We feature exclusive hand made products created by American artists but also carry works by Canadian artists and a smattering of other fabulous hand made curiosities from around the globe. We are a small brick and mortar gallery located in the beautiful village of Decorah, Iowa. Please stop in and check it out for yourself- my welcoming and knowledgeable staff is always ready to help.”
The Idea
Agora Arts was the brainchild of Decorah native and Luther College grad Gail Bolson-Magnuson. After spending a number of years as an artist and participating in local and regional juried art shows, Gail recognized a need for local artists to have an outlet for their work. In 1992, Agora Arts opened it's doors in downtown Decorah, representing 33 local and regional artists. Agora is now celebrating it's 31st year of bringing quality, hand made items to the upper midwest!
Quality Handmade
Every item in the gallery has been carefully chosen by owner, Gail Bolson-Magnuson. Gail works directly with most of the artists in the gallery and some of them have displayed their work at the gallery for over 30 years. At Agora Arts, we are proud to carry a high quality, well curated, handmade collection featuring the very best of American craft. Just walking into the gallery, you will immediately recognize what a rare experience it is to be surrounded by beautiful things created one at a time by our talented artisans.

We are open 7 days a week except for major holidays! Our hours are Monday to Friday 10 to 5:30, Saturday 10 to 5 and Sunday 11 to 3.
